When using Eagle, deleting files or folders will display confirmation prompts to prevent accidental deletion and provide you with more management options. This article explains the purpose and choices of these prompts.

Prompts When Deleting Folders

When you attempt to delete a folder containing files, the system will display a confirmation prompt asking whether you want to move all files within the folder to the trash together.

If "Move folder items to trash" is checked, the folder and all its contents will be moved to the trash
If you uncheck this option, only the folder itself will be deleted, while the files within will remain in the library
If these files also exist in other folders, they will continue to appear in those locations
If these files have no other categorization, they will only exist in the main library

Prompts When Deleting Files

When you attempt to delete a file that exists in multiple folders simultaneously, the system will display a confirmation prompt with two options:

File deletion notification

Remove from current folder, don't move to trash: The file is only removed from the current folder but remains in other folders
Move to trash: The file will be removed from all locations and placed in the trash

These confirmation prompts are designed to prevent accidental deletion of important content
Items moved to trash can be restored when needed
Removing a file from one folder does not affect its presence in other folders
